What do you love about the area?: We love living in this little area of St. Paul. The street that our home is on ends at Hillcrest Golf Course. We are 1.5 blocks away from The Furness Trail which is a great biking/walking path that our family has enjoyed utilizing. We are only about a mile from the Gateway Trail which goes all the way to Stillwater! There are several playgrounds (Hayden Heights and the Heights School) within walking distance which our children really love going to. There is also a Recreation Center at Hayden Heights through which our kids have joined sports teams. The library is only 4 blocks away and we make our trip there at least weekly. It is convenient to get to both I94 and Hwy 36 with both of them being about 2 miles away. There are many shops located right on White Bear Avenue and Maplewood Mall is only 4 miles away.

 

What are some great things about St. Paul?: We are St. Paulites! We are grateful to live in this city that has so many wonderful resources and yet has more of a small town feel. We both worked in Minneapolis for years and are happy to be mainly focused in St. Paul these days. We have memberships in the Science Museum and Children's Museum. We have loved visiting the MN History Museum, as well. There are quality clinics and hospitals nearby. Lots of parks and green space in St. Paul!

 

What restaurants are nearby?: Some of the great restaurants in the neighborhood are Chipotle, Firehouse Subs, Golden Corral, Panera, the Best Steak House, Savoys Pizza, Subway, many food trucks, and several pizza places. The East Side has some amazing dining options with Ward 6, Cook, Tongue in Cheek and Brunson's Pub.

 

What grocery stores or nearby shopping is there?: It is really easy to access grocery stores. Hyvee, Cub, Target, Trader Joes and Whole Foods are all within 2-7 miles from our home. For home improvement, Menards and Home Depot are both within 3 miles. Maplewood Mall is 4 miles away.

 

Information about the schools in our area: We are in the St. Paul School district which offers both public and charter school options. The Heights School is our community school and is only about 4 blocks from our house. If you are interested in private schools, Mounds Park Academy is about 1 mile away. If you are interested in homeschooling, there is a homeschool coop that meets just 1.5 blocks from our house.

 

What do you do for interests and hobbies near the property?: As a family, we enjoy going on walks, bike rides, and playing at the area playgrounds. We also really love having our library so close to our house. We use it a lot! We really love being able to take The Furness Trail as part of the way to The Gateway Trail.

 

Tell us about any additional property highlights, upgrades, recent updates that have been done: Flooring in the kitchen and sun room, deck, 12 windows, garden planted in back, waterproof basement flooring & water heater are all new. New dishwasher (1 year), refrigerator (4 years), washer and dryer (2 years) & master bath installed 2011. Great bay windows in living room, wonderfully shaded backyard, vegetable garden planted for the year, dead end alley which has very little traffic & a tree house in the backyard.

 

Key points about the house that we were drawn to when we first looked at the home: The spaciousness of this home is remarkable. It is much larger on the inside than it appears from the outside. We were amazed when we first saw it. We love having a living room and dining room as well as a sun room for our family to spread out in. The finished basement is a cozy retreat after a long day. Our shaded backyard affords hours of play even during the sunniest of days!
